How to Make An Exfoliating Scrub At Home

Some of the easiest products to make at home are exfoliating scrubs.

These scrubs can usually be made with things that you have lying around your kitchen anyway.

Let’s look at some of the best exfoliating scrub recipes that you can make at home.

2 Ingredient Sugar Scrub

This scrub is probably a favorite because of how easy it is. With only two ingredients and an easy to remember ratio, everyone can make this scrub in no time.

• 1 tablespoon coconut oil
• 2 tablespoons sugar

You will want to combine the cool temperature coconut oil (you don’t want melted coconut oil) and sugar in a small container. Rub the scrub on your neck, face and other skin in small circles for about 60 seconds.

The nice thing about this recipe is that with the coconut oil you are going to be moisturizing while you exfoliate. Make sure you rinse your face with warm water when you are done.

If you want to make a bigger batch, no problem, just increase the amounts but keep the 1:2 ratio the same.

The mixture should keep for about three months, but you may want to keep it in the fridge, especially if you live in a hotter climate.

Honey Oatmeal Scrub

• ½ cup uncooked oats
• 2tbsp honey
• 1tsp nutmeg
• 1 tsp dried lavender

This simple exfoliating facial scrub takes the calming nature of oatmeal and the antibacterial properties of honey to help calm your irritated face.

If a sugar scrub is too tough on your skin, you may want to keep this one in mind. The nutmeg and lavender also soothe the skin as you work the scrub into your skin in small circles for about 60 seconds.

Rinse with warm water. Remember to rinse over your kitchen sink, or to use a strainer in your bathroom sink. You don’t want to have to call a plumber to catch those pieces of oatmeal when they’ve clogged your pipes.

Don’t make this one in big batches. The oats will soften and lose their exfoliating power. Make sure, when you prepare this scrub you plan to use it right away.

Coffee Scrub

Coffee isn’t just good for waking up, it is also an excellent anti-inflammatory product and can boost collagen production in the skin.

Caffeic Acid, the ingredient that causes all of these amazing properties is found in coffee and argan oil. For this scrub, you’re going to use both.

• 1 tablespoon coarsely ground coffee
• 1 tablespoon argan oil

You will want to put a mesh coffee filter in your sink before rinsing your face to catch any coffee grounds that you miss.

When rinsing, use warm water. Also, because of the moisturizing effects of argan oil, you can skip the moisturizer after you exfoliate with this amazing scrub.

As you can see, there are lots of options for at home facial scrubs. These are just a few of the easiest to make at home.

You can get really creative with your exfoliating scrubs by adding in essential oils, herbs, and citrus’ products to rejuvenate the skin.

If you are like many people out there, time is of the essence. Having a simple go-to exfoliating scrub is going to be all that you need to get you through your beauty routine.

Whether you need the extra moisturizing benefits of the argan and coconut oils or you are looking for something that will help soothe irritated skin, these three exfoliating scrubs will have everything that you need to keep your skin looking at its best.
